Capitol & Dip Alerts ("the extension") is a browser extension that notifies you when members of the U.S. Congress disclose stock trades and when stocks on your watchlist reach a target price. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with information.

Data we collect

None. The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. We do not operate a server that receives your data, we do not use analytics, and we do not track you.

Data stored on your device

The lists you create — the tickers and price targets for your dip alerts, and the tickers or member names on your congressional watchlist — are saved locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us or to any third party. Removing the extension deletes it.

Network requests

To function, the extension fetches publicly available information from third-party sources:

• Current stock quotes, from a public Yahoo Finance quote endpoint, to compare against your price targets.
• Public congressional trade disclosures (filed under the STOCK Act), from a public dataset, to match against your watchlist.

These requests retrieve public data only. They do not include any personal information about you, and no account or sign-in is required. The extension does not download or execute any remote code; it reads public data for display and comparison only.

Permissions

• storage — save your alert lists locally.
• alarms — schedule the periodic background check.
• notifications — show you the alerts.
• Host access to the Yahoo Finance quote endpoint — retrieve current prices.

Not financial advice

The extension surfaces publicly available, delayed information for your convenience. Congressional disclosures are filed weeks after the underlying trades. Nothing the extension shows is financial, investment, or trading advice, and it should not be relied on as such.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
